In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?

My personality is laid back, humorous, and accepting. I encourage client's to show up authentically themselves: using their natural language, coping with dark humor, nourishing their bodies during session, and anything else that makes them feel comfortable. Authenticity and openness is key to making the difficult changes needed in life. My personality helps foster that openness to give client permission to be vulnerable.

What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?

During a difficult time as a teenager, I was brought to individual therapy to get the help I needed. After a few sessions, the clinician brought in my dad to talk about my depression and told us it was mild. As the person living with it every day, this felt invalidating because it shaped how I saw the world, my actions, and my thoughts. I committed myself going forward to help validate others and not let them feel as alone as I did.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I am a person-centered, strength based therapist. I collaborate with clients to discuss their biggest needs in life and find methods that can help bring the insight and increase their toolbox. All people have strengths that can be used to help themselves be better and it is an ideal starting point to build skills and develop new perspectives.
