What does a first session with you look like?

The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. This will enable you to receive the very best care, as a personalized treatment plan will then be developed for subsequent sessions. Thriveworks helps people live happier, more fulfilling lives. Clients are guided and supported as they work through their unique mental health challenges – and, along the way, shown the life-changing power of therapy.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems. As a unique individual, I understand how difficult it is to navigate an ever-evolving world which can be judgmental when one does not follow the societal norm.

What should we know about your experiences and background?

Rebecca Burton is an experienced Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over a decade of experience. She has worked with individuals from about 8 years old to the elderly (over 90 years old) in areas of depression, anxiety, anger management, adjustment, substance disorder, mood disorders, stress reduction, family conflict, and more. Rebecca has a Master's in Social Work from Southern University in New Orleans. She works to create a non-judgmental and empowering space in which you will feel free to be your authentic self in an effort to move past your current state. Rebecca takes the approach that if you desire more and desire change it will come. She is caring, open, honest, and direct in a nonjudgmental way. Rebecca is passionate about working with individuals through life changes as they are sometimes hard and seem never-ending at times. "We all go through things in life or think, 'That will never happen to me,' but when it does, it knocks us down!" says Rebecca. "One must get back up and push forward with the understanding that we are only in a moment in time and if we give ourselves grace during this time, this too shall pass! But if before our triumph we have to scream, cry, lean on our support, seek help, etc it s okay! Remember, even the most beautiful, rarest things on earth undergo pressure to uniquely develop into what we are called to be."
