What does a first session with you look like?
Clients can expect to take away a personalized and supportive experience from sessions with me. I believe in creating a safe and non-judgmental space where individuals can explore their thoughts, emotions, and challenges freely, enabling them to identify their own unique goals. During our sessions, clients will gain valuable insights into their feelings and behaviors, allowing them to develop a deeper understanding of themselves. Together, we will work collaboratively to identify their strengths and areas for growth, empowering them to make positive changes in their lives. I tailor my therapeutic approach to meet the unique needs and goals of each client, drawing from evidence-based practices and my diverse experiences as a school psychologist, licensed professional counselor, and licensed mental health counselor. Through a combination of compassionate listening, psychoeducation and skill-building exercises, clients will learn coping strategies to navigate life's challenges more effectively. Ultimately, my aim is to help clients tap into their natural resilience, enhance their emotional well-being, and foster a sense of empowerment to lead fulfilling and meaningful lives.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
As a therapist, I incorporate evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) into my practice. These therapeutic methods have been found in research to be highly effective in helping clients overcome a wide range of challenges and achieve positive outcomes. With a CBT and ACT framework, I work with clients to identify their patterns of thinking, feeling and reacting to the challenging circumstances and environments they find themselves in. I help clients develop greater psychological flexibility by engaging in experiential exercises and practices while developing more self-awareness, acceptance, and skills to ride out the emotional storms that life may bring. ACT encourages clients to unhook from the difficult feelings and thoughts that feel like stuck places, without judgment while also aligning their actions with their core values. This approach fosters mindfulness and allows clients to make meaningful life changes, even in the face of challenging emotions or circumstances. Through this process, clients learn to reframe their thoughts and develop healthier cognitive patterns, leading to more positive emotions and behaviors. During our sessions, I will tailor the treatment methods and tools to meet the specific needs and goals of each client. This may include homework assignments, skill-building exercises, role-playing, and relaxation techniques. I believe in providing a collaborative and client-centered therapeutic experience, where clients are actively involved in their own growth and progress. My aim is to empower clients with practical skills and insights that they can apply in their daily lives beyond the therapy room. By combining the strengths of CBT and ACT, clients can expect a well-rounded and transformative therapeutic journey, fostering lasting change and increased emotional well-being.
