What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?

In my 20 years of practice, one statement has guided the core of my therapeutic relationships: You may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them (Maya Angelou). As a direct, supportive, practical therapist, I seek to help you shift from just surviving to actively thriving in your life. Use of sound, evidenced-based theory coupled with unconditional positive regard helps you to achieve balance in your life, becoming empowered to be the writer in your life story. You have value no matter what obstacles you may have faced. I have extensive experience providing children, adolescents, family, and marriage therapy services. I use creative modalities such as bibliotherapy, sand tray, and art/music therapy, in conjunction with traditional talk therapy to help you to find your voice and redefine the goals for your life.
