What does a first session with you look like?
The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. This will enable you to receive the very best care, as a personalized treatment plan will then be developed for subsequent sessions. Thriveworks helps people live happier, more fulfilling lives. Clients are guided and supported as they work through their unique mental health challenges – and, along the way, shown the life-changing power of therapy.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems. I have a professional goal to improve mental health knowledge in the community to decrease the stigma that is currently placed on mental health.
What should we know about your experiences and background?
Rebecca, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), has worked in the medical field for over 20 years. She completes initial psychiatric evaluations and also manages and treats mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, ADHD, stress, and self-esteem concerns. Rebecca is also a board-certified Adult-Geriatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP-BC). Her professional goal is to improve mental health knowledge in the community to decrease the stigma that is currently placed on mental health. Preconceptions of mental health conditions can have a significant impact on one s life as they may prevent many from seeking the care needed to improve their life. Rebecca obtained her Masters (MSN) and Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) from Wilmington University. Her Post -Graduate certification in Psychiatric Mental Health was obtained from Wilkes University. Rebecca uses her strong communication skills to build a therapeutic relationship with patients and their families. Her excellent clinical skills are evident. In addition to medication management, Rebecca integrates cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), compassion-focused, emotional-focused, and person-centered techniques into treatment. Proper mental health care has so much to do with one s overall health and is essential to living a healthy life. When left untreated, symptoms can cause significant distress in one s life. Through good communication and following evidenced-based practice whether with psychotherapy treatment, pharmacological treatment, or a combination of both, together Rebecca and you will determine the best treatment plan to reach maximum potential. Rebecca wants you to be able to enjoy your days and with the effective treatment, she believes that together this goal can be achieved. Schedule an appointment with her today!
