What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
A variety of factors contributes to balanced mental health,� says Dr. Rebecca Eden Parra. "My goal as a doctor is to honor my patient's individuality. I listen and understand their unique challenges and needs, and from there, I design a thoughtful treatment plan. "� Dr. Parra's experience in treating patients with complex emotional and chemical issues influences her cooperative approach to psychiatry. She believes psychiatric medications are tools that can be used to maximize a person's quality of life and overall happiness. Dr. Parra specializes in treating adults aged 18 and older, including those over 65. Her areas of expertise include disorders of mood (including depression and bipolar disorder), anxiety, psychosis, and personality, as well as sleep and eating disorders. She also focuses on LGBTQ health issues. Dr. Parra is a psychiatrist licensed in Virginia and New York. After obtaining her medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Dr. Parra completed her residency in psychiatry at SUNY Downstate Hospital. Additionally, Dr. Parra holds a law degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, and earned separate undergraduate degrees from the University of Virginia and Columbia University in New York.
