What does a first session with you look like?
During our first session, I will take time to get to know you and why you’re seeking therapy. Expect to leave our first session with some coping skills and a bit of homework. Ideally, I’d like you to feel better about starting therapy and want to return for your next session.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
As a social worker, I like to know about how a person exists in their world. We will look at not only current symptoms and behaviors, but how are your relationships with family, friends, partners and colleagues. We discuss your environment and if that has an effect on you. I have specialty training in therapeutic interventions including trauma-focused treatments such as Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I use these three modalities throughout therapy while also using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to look at thoughts, feelings and behaviors.
