What does a first session with you look like?
Greetings, I am Robert Tang Bau, a board-certified PMHNP (Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner). If you find yourself grappling with feelings of hopelessness due to depression or anxiety, struggling to find balance amidst relationships, work, and overall well-being, and finding it challenging to be kind to yourself, know that you are not alone. With over 7 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, including service abroad as a U.S. Air Force Veteran, and having personally journeyed through trauma, I bring a unique perspective to my practice as a compassionate mental health nurse practitioner. My approach revolves around fostering strong connections with my patients, providing a safe and non-judgmental environment where you can freely express yourself. I believe in the power of individualized treatment plans, tailoring my approach to suit your specific needs and circumstances. My expertise encompasses comprehensive and empathetic care for individuals of all ages dealing with various mental disorders. I am here to support you on your journey toward improved well-being, offering guidance and understanding every step of the way. Together, we can work towards overcoming the challenges you face and creating a brighter, healthier future.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
As a PMHNP (Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner), I employ a range of evidence-based treatment methods and tools to support my patient's mental health and well-being. Some of the key approaches I utilize include: *Medication Management: I have the authority to prescribe psychiatric medications when appropriate. This includes antidepressants, anti-anxiety medications, mood stabilizers, and other psychotropic medications to address various mental health conditions. Psychotherapy: such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and interpersonal therapy. These therapies help individuals address negative thought patterns, cope with emotions, and improve interpersonal relationships. *Psychoeducation: Psychoeducation helps individuals better understand their challenges and actively participate in their healing process.
