What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
Robert is an independently licensed clinical social worker with over 16 years of experience providing therapy. Robert received his Master's in Social Work from San Jose State University and is licensed in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts. He primarily utilizes solution-focused and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) approaches, as he finds these therapeutic interventions to be particularly helpful in allowing clients to accomplish their goals and make important changes in their lives. Clients are at the center of Robert's therapy; his focus is on them as a person first, followed by their goals and vision for their future. Robert believes strongly that each client is the expert of their own lives. He collaborates with and takes direction from his clients in determining and navigating their own path for therapy. He assists his clients in taking the lead while guiding them to stay focused on their interests, wants, aspirations, and tailoring treatment to their unique needs and circumstances. Unconditional positive regard, compassion, warmth, empathy, and genuineness are fundamental principles that Robert adheres to.
