What does a first session with you look like?
What I want the clients to take away from sessions with me is that they have a therapist who is an advocate for their well-being, and who will show them the skills to control the symptoms they are experiencing. The goal for my clients is to teach the skills and techniques that they can use over the course of their lifetime after they feel they are finished with therapy.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I like to take a cognitive behavioral approach with clients where we learn to implement techniques and coping skills to restructure thoughts that factor both emotions and rationality. My approach is multi modal, and tailored to my clients needs. In treatment, I have used techniques from dialectical, behavioral therapy, narrative, therapy, cognitive, behavioral therapy, and person centered theory.
