What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?

Dr. Yaple earned his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in 2003. He then moved to Richmond, Virginia where he completed his internship and residency in General Psychiatry at the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System, and then went on to complete his fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 2008 through VCU at the Virginia Treatment Center for Children. Dr. Yaple spent one additional year in fellowship training in Forensic Psychiatry at the University of Virginia's Institute of Law, Psychiatry and Public policy before joining the clinical teaching faculty at the Virginia Treatment Center for Children in 2009. During his tenure at VCU, Dr. Yaple has cared for patients across all settings including inpatient, outpatient and consultative evaluation and treatment. Dr. Yaple has also served as the Program Director for the VCU Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship program, coordinating education and clinical training for residents and fellows for ten years.
