What does a first session with you look like?

The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. What is your style/approach to therapy?

I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems.

What should we know about your experiences and background?

Sabo Uba is a Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) who has almost 10 years of practice in both clinic and hospital settings plus prior background medical training and practice. Sabo provides superior care and treatment to patients with diverse psychiatric illnesses and substance dependence problems. He is actively engaged in mental health clinical practice in patients across all lifespans in clinics and acute inpatient settings as well as nursing/long-term care facilities. Sabo has worked for years as a PMHNP at Northside Hospital in Gwinnett/Duluth and Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, managing both mental issues and substance abuse. He is currently treating patients with mental health issues in clinic setting and crisis stabilization of patients with emergent/acute psychiatric illnesses and substance withdrawals. Sabo completed his undergraduate studies as well as his Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with honors as a Family Primary Care Nurse Practitioner at Kennesaw State University School of Nursing. He completed his PMHNP at Valdosta State University. Sabo has earlier trained and practiced for some years as an international medical doctor with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). Sabo strongly believes that he is uniquely positioned to provide excellent care/treatment. He believes that every patient is unique and should be listened to to fully understand their situation and be treated with genuine respect and compassion.
