What does a first session with you look like?

The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. This will enable you to receive the very best care, as a personalized treatment plan will then be developed for subsequent sessions. Thriveworks helps people live happier, more fulfilling lives. Clients are guided and supported as they work through their unique mental health challenges – and, along the way, shown the life-changing power of therapy.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I offer a variety of counseling approaches including CBT / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems. As a female clinician with experience working in the field of child welfare, I understand the unique experiences of individuals and families in today's society and how important it is to attend to ourselves before we can attend to others.

What should we know about your experiences and background?

Shannon Zimmerman is a Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW) gaining new experiences in the mental health field. Shannon is passionate about helping children, adolescents, couples, and families address their unique challenges and live more fulfilled and healthy lives. She specializes in depression, anxiety, parenting issues, and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Shannon completed her Master of Social Work (MSW) at Bridgewater State University. Shannon primarily utilizes CBT, motivational interviewing, and narrative therapy in her work with clients. We all have our own unique experiences in life and face challenges every day.
