What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?

Shaune K. McKinnon, DNP, PMHNP-BC Shaune K. McKinnon is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Virginia who has been practicing since 2019. She has a Registered Nursing license and AAS in Nursing from John Tyler Community College, a Bachelor in the Science of Nursing from Virginia Commonwealth University, a Master's Degree in the Science of Nursing with a concentration in Psych-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from the University of Virginia and a Doctor in Nursing Practice at the University of Virginia. Shaune believes that all medical care should be patient-centered care "? mental health care should be no different. She feels patients are unique individuals and should be treated as such, and as a provider, she should always look for the most efficient way to produce the best outcomes for her patients. In her spare time, Shaune enjoys African dance, listening to all genres of music, traveling to new places near and far, and spending quality time with her friends and family.
