What does a first session with you look like?
On your initial visit, please be relaxed and know that you are not alone in this journey! I will take the time to get to know you by completing your initial psychiatric assessment which will cover any past psychiatric history, medical history, demographics, list of medications, and things of that nature. We will talk about ways you are coping at present, what works for you and what does not. You can expect to have a worksheet/homework assignment to complete and discuss on the following visit.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I will utilize brief psychotherapy with the inclusion of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). There are different approaches to the use of CBT depending on a patient's diagnosis. I also offer inpatient Reiki Psychotherapy. Psychotherapeutic Reiki is based largely on energy field theory, energy anatomy, and Reiki which emerged from Buddhist spirituality. It requires the use of touch to allow energy to flow and the unblocking of chakras. Generally, during the first session, I will balance all 7 Chakras, bringing about complete relaxation. Clients often fall asleep. In the following sessions, I apply Reiki and psycho (talk) therapy simultaneously to the client to work through the issues at hand.
