What does a first session with you look like?
Our first session is usually an intake and assessment session. We will get to know each other and begin with the case conceptualization as we work to determine how best to approach your treatment needs. What brings you to see me? Are there multiple issues that we must prioritize? Do we need to get medical clearance before we begin? But, don't think we aren't doing "real work" this is REAL work. This is where the foundation is laid, so be as honest as you are comfortable with being. There is no judgement here, you're safe.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
My main treatment approach is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which can be conducted through teletherapy with some concessions. I also am trained in CBT, Motivational Interviewing, TF-CBT, and other modalities. We will utilize various diagnostic devices to help us determine which direction our work together might need to go and, throughout our work together, as well as at the end of sessions, I will check-in with how well you feel therapy and I, as a clinician are serving you. My goal is to provide the best possible care for you. Your well-being is what matter.
