What does a first session with you look like?
I feel that my clients enjoy their sessions with me because they feel listened to with empathy, concern and expertise. Since I'm a teacher at heart, I love helping clients with giving you tools to help you change and get better. You will feel that I have your back by checking in with you often and caring about you. Together, you and I will see improvement in a matter of weeks. My job is to help you, and I will.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
First I will explore your background and what you bring to counseling. This way, I can understand what brought you here. Next I will educate you about what's going on so you have a better understanding of why you feel the way you do, and then, we will change how you approach life. I use cognitive behavior therapy, which helps clients realize that their thinking may need to be updated, rational emotive behavior therapy, which helps clients understand how self-talk can hurt or help; unified protocol therapy, which teaches clients how to manage anxiety and depression, EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) therapy and Rapid Resolution Therapy with hypnotherapy, both which help to process past trauma in order to live fully in the present.
