What does a first session with you look like?
I want clients to leave each session knowing that I have heard them and have a clear understanding of what they want to accomplish. I also want to know what the client has heard and gained from the session. I believe it is crucial to take a trauma- informed approach. I often ask each client to identify their hopes and fears surrounding beginning the therapy process. I believe it is very important for the client to understand the treatment process and what they can expect.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
As mentioned previously I use a trauma-informed approach. I have been trained in several treatment modalities. I want each client I work with to make an informed choice about their treatment. I believe it is important for people to understand why they fall into the patterns they do. I do not think therapy is a one size fits all nor do I believe there is a therapy model perfect for every person. I adapt the therapy model to fit the person.
