What does a first session with you look like?

I want clients to leave with a deeper understanding of their biological and psychological basis of their symptoms. I want patients to know the truth and myths surrounding medications in psychiatry. I want patient's to leave feeling as if though all they concerns and fears were thoroughly addressed. I also want patient's to feel as they actively participated in the decision making process of their care. In addition, I want the patient to leave feeling hopeful and optimistic that healing is possible. In other words, I want patient's to leave feeling as if I exceeded their expectations for care.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I may use questionnaires, electronic communications, interviews and shared decision making skills to diagnose and formulate a treatment plan. Visual diagroms may also be used to explain some of the concepts unique to mental health. I am very strong on providing patients with self help resources(internet, books, and so forth).
