What does a first session with you look like?
My approach to helping clients during sessions is to set goals. I do this by first listening intently to a client's history and what brought them to therapy. In doing this I am helping to build trust between the client and I, since my initial goals is to have the client feel comfortable with what it means to be in therapy. Once I've gained insight into the patient's reasons for attending therapy, I collaborate with clients to develop goals that are realistic and attainable. Over time, we will work together to set goals and track progress.
