What does a first session with you look like?
I employ the "fellow travelers' concept where we, on equal footing, think about some things together. I aim to show you how you make perfect sense (connect the dots from your story and offer a possible explanation for why you feel the way you feel), so you can be merciful to yourself and perhaps get unstuck and on your way to further accomplishments. I try to keep things very simple. I work for you. We will collaborate. You are in charge. I will make suggestions and hold up a mirror to you so you can more fully trust your own judgement, however, you are the expert on you.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I am competent in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Accelerated Resolution Therapy for trauma, Managing Emotional States Effectively for trauma. Solution Focused Therapy, Accelerated Interventions for Anxiety, Panic, Phobias and OCD, Narrative exposure therapy for trauma and other methods.
