What does a first session with you look like?

In the beginning of a session, I always check in with a client's mood and ask them if they have something that they want to discuss. If they don't, I would bring out a tool and/or a discussion about the goals that they are working on. I talk in an informal manner to make clients feel comfortable. I tell the clients to let me know if something works for them or if something doesn't work. If homework is appropriate for the client, then I will assign it. I can tell the client is progressing by observing their body language and the content of our conversation. When I see the client putting in work, engaged, and self-reporting that they are doing better, then I know they have made improvements.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

Anxiety Anxiety comes in different shapes and sizes. I will cater your treatment methods based on which type of anxiety you are dealing with and what symptoms you are experiencing. Techniques I use to help reduce anxiety for my clients include: grounding, progressive muscle relaxation technique, journal writing, and finding the source of that anxiety. Depression Depression is one of the most common mental disorders. When treating clients, I often use CBT techniques: identifying and reframing unhelpful thought pattern triangle, CBT triangle, and thought pattern triangle, CBT triangle, and thought mood log. I ask clients to challenge their own thoughts by using Socratic questioning.
