What does a first session with you look like?
After our first individual session together, you will find that you have been heard and that your feelings are valid. You will have a beginning knowledge of how therapy works. You will also have a few coping strategies that you can immediately start using. You will have hope that you can manage your feeling states and have a more rewarding life.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
As an individual therapist, I utilize a relational/psychodynamic approach to get to know you and build a foundation for our working, therapeutic relationship. I have been trained in Alternatives For Families: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Trauma Focused: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I utilize portions of both therapies to help reduce the negative effects of trauma on an individual and their interpersonal relationships.
