What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?

Stephanie McGee is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist Associate. She has always had a passion for working with youth and families who have experienced various hardships in their lives. This passion has stemmed from her own personal experiences and the experiences of those around her. In providing counseling services, she not only takes into consideration the individual but also those closest to them. She focusses on how their experiences have shaped their behaviors and interactions with others. She has found that when providing counseling services, it is not only important for the individual to learn new tools and techniques but that it is also important that those around them are accepting of the changes that they wish to make in their lives. Having a supportive environment is crucial to making change and without this, change is that much more difficult to make. When individuals enter counseling those closest to them may find that they too must shift and change with the individual, and this is not always an easy feat.
