What does a first session with you look like?
I believe rapport is everything! Who wants to share their most personal and intimate experiences, challenges, and desires with a stranger? Trust needs to be earned and is not given automatically. And I understand that. My sessions will focus on establishing comfort in order to help you feel more open sharing. Only then can progress and treatment begin. I plan on focusing on whatever needs or concerns that you may have; this could range from issues with self-esteem, relationships, future aspirations, etc. I am flexible and adaptable to any needs or concerns that you may have.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I utilize a person-centered perspective with a strength-based approach. I want to highlight the strengths that I believe everyone possesses and further build up other areas to make them strengths as well. In therapy, there is no "one-size-fits-all". This means that one approach for an individual may be different than that of another. Typically I like to use solutions-focused methods, motivational interviewing, and mindfulness techniques.
