The first session is more structured where we discuss what is going on with you and establish your goals for therapy. We will discuss your presenting concerns, establish therapy goals, choose a therapeutic approach, and develop a treatment plan in the initial session. From there, we begin to work together toward those goals. The therapy sessions will look different according to your preferences. The primary focus of treatment will be healing, accepting, and letting go of past experiences so you can create the life you want and deserve. We will use interventions to explore and identify negative thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors that keep you stuck, stressed, depressed, or anxious. You will learn and practice coping skills in a safe and non-judgmental space.
I use an integrative approach according to your needs. Some of my clients prefer a flexible process centered on their presenting problem, while others choose a more structured approach. In both methods, I use evidence-based techniques. I read a lot about various modalities and client issues, and I am trained in CBT, DBT, Mindfulness, EMDR, Interpersonal and Attachment-based modalities. I seek specialized training to hone and gain more skills to help my clients. I am especially interested in learning about the effects of childhood trauma, domestic violence, and sexual abuse on adult women.
