The first session is primarily for me to build a good case conceptualization of your concern(s), and then to give you an outline of how we will proceed, possible length of time it will take, etc. Subsequent sessions will be to keep you on track with treatment goals and continue until we both agree that therapy is no longer needed. The many clients I have seen over the years will tell you I am a "direct, no fluff" kind of therapist but always come from a place of kindness and care.

I work from an attachment/psychopathology approach: growth and development goes on until our last breath. I am always looking to see how past strategies that helped you at other stages in life now work "against you". The methods use to get us to where you need to be include cognitive/behavior therapy, psychoeducation, information processing, dialectical behavior therapy, trauma informed modalities. Our time together is an "exchange of ideas". I do not give advice, I do therapy. I do interject humor also!
