What does a first session with you look like?

In our first session, you can expect to be greeted warmly and to have the time and space to tell your story of what brought you to therapy as well as what you hope to gain from this experience. I will always be honest about what I believe will be helpful but you will have the final say in goals. You will never be forced to move faster than you can tolerate. As we work together over time, you can expect to have a sense of felt safety in our sessions with an assurance of your ability to speak openly without fear of judgment. If at any point, you feel I am not a good fit for you, you can expect my support of your option to make a different choice in providers.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I am trained and experienced in the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I am also trained in the ASSYST procedure which can be utilized to stabilize the nervous system in the immediate aftermath of a traumatic experience. I have completed many hours of training on the Attachment Theory which allows me to have a solid understanding of how early life experiences impact an individual's ability to form relationships as they grow and develop.
