What does a first session with you look like?
I strive to create an environment that will allow clients to feel comfortable, empowered, respected, and cared for and I hope that you leave any session with me feeling as though I have honored that. It is important to me that you can share your needs allowing us to come up with a plan together. I will always encourage your input to the extent that you are comfortable giving it. In addition to the above, I enjoy providing additional skills and educational material to further empower you in your treatment and instill confidence as you progress in your healing.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
While my primary focus and role as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner is medication management, I also integrate therapeutic and holistic approaches in my practice. I listen to your direct input while also monitoring for cues to get a sense of your needs regarding your mental health. While medications are a wonderful tool for the treatment of mental illness and helping to establish balance, I do find that the use of other modalities including nutrition, exercise, pet therapy, cognitive behavioral and supportive therapy, can boost treatment response and efficacy.
