You can expect to work with me for a period of 6 months to a year or more to learn how to communicate in order to reduce or recover quickly from arguments and ruptures. Learning comes from a combination of psychoeducation about how the brain works and how this shows up in relationship and doing, experientially communicating differently in session. Getting a felt sense of how to communicate differently gives you both confidence to open up and try different techniques at home. Arguments reduce, opening more opportunities to communicate differently and create connection. If arguments happen, recovery happens much more quickly. Over time, old injuries in the relationship are healed and intimacy increases. This is typically where therapy ends - increased intimacy and stronger connection.
