What does a first session with you look like?
In our first sessions, we will build rapport, make goals and plans based on your needs, and begin learning about what is necessary to move forward. We will learn what is in our control and each of our responsibility. Eventually, we will begin the application of those plans using various techniques. We will find evidence-based solutions for specific areas identified in our work together.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I have over a decade of experience in crisis counseling and trauma clients. I have finished all the coursework for my Doctorate in Education in Community Counseling with an emphasis in traumatology and am now in the process of completing the dissertation. I use many counseling modalities. I am fully trained in rational emotive behavioral therapy (REBT), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and many others. I utilize my experience and expertise often to "custom-fit" using a more eclectic therapy modality. Additionally, I am a firm believer in utilizing a client-centered focus as well when it is appropriate.
