What does a first session with you look like?
After our first session you can expect to feel heard and validated in your life’s experiences. I will also provide an overview of what therapy will look like in the next sessions based on your needs. We will work on developing healthy coping skills, explore your thoughts and feelings, learn to manage your emotional triggers through self-regulation, increase your ability to set healthy boundaries, and improve your communication skills and relationships. You will gain a deeper understanding of your attachment style and identify your maladaptive patterns of behavior to increase your self-awareness. I will be your ally and biggest supporter in your journey and guide you through healing from within.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
I like to incorporate principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help bring awareness to the relationship between the way we think, behave and feel. I educate my clients on a combination of CBT coping skills and self-regulating skills because I believe we first need to bring our body back to safety before evoking positive change. I also implement Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) techniques to help you navigate your feelings and teach you about the “Wise Mind”, which entails engaging in mindful thinking, balancing reason and your emotions. Lastly, I will teach you about Attachment Theory to help you identify your attachment style, inner child wounds, and patterns of behavior in your adult relationships to foster healthier interpersonal relationships.
