After the first session, we will develop treatment goals. This will keep the focus on what is important to you. Each time we meet, I will meet you where you are at. Some days you may know what you want to talk about and other days you may not be sure where to start. Flowing back and forth between this is common and normal. I will be helping you address whatever it is that is important to you each time we meet while helping you connect this to your goal. The intake session is 60 min Follow up sessions can be 30 min, 45 min or 60 min depending on client need.
I really like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) because it utilizes both Cognitive Behavioral Therapy principles and mindfulness. It incorporates the importance of moving toward what we value. I believe some of what causes us to become "stuck" is related to life moving us away from our values. I also use Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy. I like the Gottman Method for family counseling and I incorporate structural or systemic family therapy approaches.
