What does a first session with you look like?
The first session, as with all Thriveworks therapists, will involve talking through your needs and goals for therapy — whether those involve managing depression, anxiety, relationship problems, or another mental health challenge. Thomas Lims Owusu-Asante is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor (LCSW, LCAC) who has over 13 years of experience working with adults who are struggling with anger, addiction, life transitions, family issues, anxiety, depression, stress, and more. Thomas holds a Master's degree in Social Work, a Master's degree Addiction Counseling degree, and a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling. With extensive global travel experience including 15 countries, and exposure to multiple cultures, Thomas is well-versed in the peculiarities of families cultural, traditional, and religious background. He utilizes multiple therapeutic approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), solutions-focused therapy (SFT), narrative therapy (NT), and Alderian therapy. As we all know, life is full of challenges but with willingness and determination, Thomas is confident that he can assist you and your family to gain new perspective about life.
