What does a first session with you look like?

In our first session, we'll discuss your background and any major symptoms you've been having with your mental health. Together we will develop a treatment plan. What are your goals? What would you like to accomplish? I'd like to begin our first new sessions by looking at some skills and techniques you can use for more immediate relief of severe symptoms like panic attacks or anxiety. From there, we look at the underlying beliefs and thoughts that contribute to the behaviors and emotions that are problematic. We learned to reframe them and then we practice those reframes over and over again until they become the new habit. This part takes a little more time, but it's so worth it when you start to see improvements.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I use evidence based treatment modalities (skills and techniques that's been proven time and time again to work) in therapy. The primary method I use is cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Other modalities I use are specifically based on your symptoms. Below are the various treatment methods I use in addition to CBT. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) Narrative Therapy Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) Mindfulness Therapy Trauma Focused Therapy Motivational Interviewing Solution Focused Therapy Behavioral Activation
