What does a first session with you look like?
People tend to be very comfortable around me and find it is easy to share their life problems. I am a very caring, compassionate counselor and love working with people in an effort to help them create their best lives. I encourage my clients to actively participate in their treatment plans by involving them in setting goals. I also encourage my clients to do worksheets or exercises to increase their knowledge in an area and/or become familiar with new skills that will help them to better navigate their lives.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
My approach depends upon the individual and their particular presenting concern. I have used Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy and Mindfulness Therapy to name a few. I also encourage outside reading, webinars or podcasts, journaling, individual worksheets, role playing, and check-ins between appointments.
