What does a first session with you look like?

Starting therapy carries mixed emotions. Excitement and fear to name a few. Each session may increase internal reflection about your life and everything surrounding it. It's likely to ignite self-exploration and self-awareness. You may think more about the conversations you have, the choices you make, and the relationships you cultivate with others. I wouldn't be surprised if you find yourself lost in thought more often than you had been. I hope that you will develop a robust emotional vocabulary. As our therapeutic relationship grows, trust and honesty and safety will as well. There may be times when you feel upset or unsettled after a therapy session. That is part of the process of making changes and stepping outside your comfort zone to make the changes you seek.

What is your style/approach to therapy?

I am committed to providing you with excellent service tailored to meet your individual needs and situation. I use a whole-person approach focusing on mind, body, and spirit along with Harm Reduction, Mindfulness, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approaches. We may use homework, in-session exercises, meditation and other approaches as needed.
