First sessions generally involve introductions: to me, explaining the therapeutic process, going over standards of practice and care, protocols regarding appointments, as well as an overview the the natural progression of the counseling experience. Sessions explore the areas of clients’ lives directly tied to their areas of challenge. As a team we work through the process of exploration, defining and redefining critical life elements, discovering viable and satisfying options, and implementation of tools that create and sustain positive change.

Sessions with me involve talk and other therapeutic modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, reality therapy, existential and humanistic therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, mindfulness, EMDR, as well best practices thought based and written approaches (journaling) for between session processing. Each session takes its own course and direction in alignment with the client’s needs. Absolutely nothing is forced. We move as the process dictates toward clients’ treatment goals.
