In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?
My personal experiences have had a great deal of influence on the areas of therapy that if have been drawn towards helping others in. I have had a strong drive to help those struggling with trauma and PTSD due to my own experience as a soldier in the Michigan Army National Guard for the past 12 years. I have seen first hand the harm that untreated trauma, anxiety and depression can lead to within my fellow soldiers and I work every day to try and help bring anyone suffering with similar issues to a more stable and healthy place.
I have also known, and worked with, individuals within the medical and academic field for the entirety of my professional career. I have seen the burnout and stress that can come from these fields and this has drawn me to focus on treating these issues with individuals working in these high pressure difficult professions.
Lastly I have been able to work with adolescents within the criminal justice system for the past 3 and a half years. This has given me a greater level of compassion and empathy for what the youth of today are contending with. Adolescents have many more complex struggles then an adult client typically comes to therapy with and it has lead me to devote a large amount of my professional time to working hard at helping our next generation of adolescents effectively cope with the struggles of today.

Work HistoryI decided to open Harvard Avenue Counseling Services because I saw a huge need for a high quality virtual counseling service that was able to provide personalized care. The stories that I had been hearing about the treatment being provided by the large corporate virtual counseling companies were concerning. I knew that there was a more effective and caring way to provide high quality counseling services. Therefore, after much thought and effort Harvard Avenue Counseling Services was established.
My clinical experience over the past six years has been working within the court system and a private practice. This has given me hundreds of hours of experience in treating complex trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, anger, grief and adolescent issues. This experience has allowed me to hone my skills in the therapeutic trenches. I am happy to be able to bring these skills to my clients at our private virtual practice. My goal is to help as many people as possible gain stability and wellbeing within their lives.
