Get To Know Me
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
My goal is to show respect and dignity to anyone I work with. I believe that we all have the ability to heal ourselves with the right support and guidance. I want people to be able to be open with me during the therapeutic relationship. If I am not giving them the guidance or support they need I want them to feel comfortable enough to let me know.
What does a first session with you look like?
When working with me the first session is about creating a therapeutic relationship where the client can start to feel safe and be open to the idea of trusting the process. My hope is that people will leave the first session with a sense of hope for the future. The first session is finding out the purpose or reason for treatment, gathering historical information that someone feels comfortable to share, establishing a rapport and identify initial treatment goals.
In what ways do your life philosophy and treatment philosophy overlap?
I believe we all have the tools we need within ourselves. With support and respect we can use those tools when we need them. I strive to be present and mindful in my daily life and create that in my therapy. We are human beings not human doings. We grow from our experiences however, are experiences don't define us. They help to guide us through the journey of life.
