If there was one thing you wish people knew about the therapy experience who might be hesitant to try it, what would that be?

The most important factor in a good outcome for therapy is absolutely the therapeutic alliance between therapist and patient. If you find the right therapist for you where you feel safe, respected and like they genuinely care, therapy can be life changing. People from all walks of life go to therapy and I have had everything from millionaires, doctors and veterans to homeless people. You have nothing to lose by trying and potentially life changing gains. Take a leap of faith!

In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?

I am very much a realist. I believe in down to earth talk where we get down to the real issues in a safe environment where we develop tools, strategies and real solutions to whatever your challenges and issues are.

Work History

I have had the honor to have a very wide variety of experiences within the mental health area that have given me a wide breadth of experience with many different types of mental health issues and challenges. From an inpatient setting, the Veterans Administration to private practice my first love has always been working with military members and their families. As a military retiree I have always understood the unique needs of military members and it has been an honor to give back to the community in my role as a therapist. I specialize in anxiety and depressive disorders but have years of experience working with couples, families, personality disorders, psychotic disorders and a wide range of mental health issues or life challenges. I believe the most important aspect of therapy is the therapeutic bond between therapist and patient where a mutual relationship of respect, empathy and hard work is the key to success.
