Get To Know Me
How has your particular field of specialization evolved in recent years and how has that impacted your work?
I worked primarily with clients of whom the majority experienced complex trauma. Trauma and chronic traumatic stress affect the brain and body as a whole, recognizing that the psychology is intricately interconnected with the physiology of the person.
If there was one thing you wish people knew about the therapy experience who might be hesitant to try it, what would that be?
Therapy really is about the client-therapist reciprocal relationship and trust-building. The therapist is not here to "get inside your head" and tell you who to be. A therapy session is the client's time to address whatever is most meaningful or critical in their lives. Did you know that most Therapists enter into therapy as required per the graduate degree?
How do you determine therapy goals with clients? What does that process look like?
I believe that the clients identify their goals through interactive conversation with the Therapist when establishing therapy; goals can emerge and be flexible as therapy progresses, and clients reassess themselves and their lives.
