In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
My personality is hybrid between laid back and "tell it like it is". This translates to me actively working to create a safe and comfortable space where my clients feel like they can share anything without fear of judgement while knowing that the behaviors and patterns they are actively working to change will be confronted when they surface.
How do you determine therapy goals with clients? What does that process look like?
Once I have discussed and have an understanding of a clients presenting concerns, we collaborate to identify goals. Sometimes clients have an idea of what they want to accomplish but are not completely sure on how to verbalize this, I step in and assist with conceptualizing the goals based on the information presented. I do not create goals without client input. I believe that clients are the expert on their lives and I use my knowledge and skills to help them navigate the parts that might be hard at that time for them.
What does a first session with you look like?
When you are ready to start this new journey and have scheduled your initial appointment, you will talk and I will listen. I'll ask questions for clarification and understanding during this time, but it will be mostly you sharing. During this session my goal is to understand what led to you starting this journey and what you hope to get out of it. Once we are on the same page about the presenting concerns, we will cork together to identify your goals for our work together.

Work History
My career as a Social Worker began 6 years ago, working in community and school based settings with pregnant and parenting teens. After spending some time delivering therapy in school and home based settings to children, teens and their families I transitioned to residential care working with issues related to depression, anxiety, trauma and substance abuse. During this time I developed skills to engage clients utilizing CBT, mindfulness and TF-CBT approaches. I have always been very passionate about helping others learn to be more present for themselves. This includes self care and managing anxious and depressive thoughts. After venturing into private practice I have been able to focus more on my passion for self care and addressing the barriers my clients have associated with being present for themselves and their families in a way that they want to. My experience as allowed me to be trained and experienced with psychosocial assessments, identifying triggers, developing coping strategies with clients and providing training and supervision to interns and master level clinicians.
