Get To Know Me
If you could pick one movie or book that influenced your approach to therapy, what would it be and why?
One movie that has influenced my approach to therapy is Good Will Hunting. It beautifully illustrates how trauma can impact a person’s sense of self and relationships, and how trust and connection within the therapeutic relationship can create space for growth and healing. It reminds me of the importance of meeting clients where they are, fostering safety, and supporting them as they work through their challenges.
What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
My path to becoming a therapist was deeply personal. I’m a survivor of childhood abuse, and during my teen years I often cried out for help, but because I appeared “high-achieving and put together” on the outside, my struggles were overlooked—even by a school counselor. That experience left a lasting impression on me about how much pain can be hidden beneath the surface.
I went on to be the first in my family to attend college, and later pursued my Master’s in Counseling Psychology. Between undergrad and grad school, and again during my senior year of graduate studies, I worked in direct service at a nonprofit. There, I met many colleagues and community members with difficult and complex life stories. Seeing how much people’s struggles are often invisible reminded me of my own experiences and solidified my desire to be a therapist.
I’m drawn to hearing people’s stories and diving deeper into their experiences so they can feel seen, supported, and empowered. My work is about creating a safe, compassionate space where clients can explore their challenges, find their strengths, and heal.
In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
My personality plays a big role in my approach to therapy. I have a theater background, so I can be animated at times, enjoy making light jokes, and even use a little sarcasm—especially when reflecting on others’ impressions. While that might sound unconventional for a therapist, I’m not really a traditional therapist; I’m a real person, not a robot shaped by grad school.
I can also be serious, empathetic, and deeply supportive. My personality helps me build rapport and trust with clients, which is essential for creating a safe space where real healing can happen. Being approachable and authentic allows clients to feel seen, understood, and comfortable exploring even the hardest parts of their experiences.

Education
National University , Associate of Applied Arts, Marraige & Family Therapist, Professional Clinical Counselor , 2025 — I hold a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology with a focus in Marriage & Family Therapy and Professional Clinical Counseling. My training included advanced coursework in family systems, relationships, and therapeutic techniques. This equips me to provide compassionate, supportive, and evidence-based care for individuals, couples, and families navigating challenges like anxiety, identity, relationships, and life transitions.
Work HistoryI previously worked at the Gender Health Center, where I supported transgender and queer clients, as well as couples in queer and polyamorous relationships. I also worked with clients in the kink and BDSM community. Much of my work focused on helping clients navigate identity, relationships, and life transitions in ways that felt authentic and affirming. I provided a special service of writing letters of support for transgender clients seeking hormone therapy, gender-affirming surgeries, and other aspects of gender-affirming care. This experience helped me develop a deep understanding of the unique challenges and strengths of LGBTQIA+ and sexual minority communities, allowing me to offer compassionate, personalized support for each person I work with.
