Get To Know Me
What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
My path began with a deep desire to serve others. I started my healthcare career in nursing and spent many years caring for patients in community health, wound care, Veterans Affairs, military medicine, telehealth, and deployed settings. Over time, I saw how often emotional pain, trauma, anxiety, depression, and stress affected people’s overall health and quality of life.
That experience inspired me to pursue advanced training as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I wanted to help people not only survive difficult seasons but also feel heard, supported, and empowered to heal. My work with veterans, service members, families, and underserved communities has strengthened my commitment to compassionate, respectful, and evidence-based mental health care.
For me, this profession is more than a career. It is a calling rooted in service, humility, leadership, and the belief that every person deserves dignity, hope, and quality care.

Education
Liberty University, Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, 2026 — Doctor of Nursing Practice graduate from Liberty University with advanced preparation as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. My doctoral education strengthened my clinical expertise in psychiatric assessment, medication management, evidence-based practice, leadership, and improving access to quality mental health care. My scholarly focus emphasized expanding telehealth-based mental health services for geriatric veterans to improve access, satisfaction, treatment compliance, and cost-effectiveness.
Work HistoryMy work in mental health and healthcare has been shaped by more than 18 years of nursing experience across Veterans Affairs, military medicine, telehealth, wound care, community health, and deployed care environments. I have served Veterans through the VA, supported service members through the U.S. Army Reserve, and cared for individuals and families facing complex medical, emotional, and life challenges.
As a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, my background helps me understand the connection between emotional health, physical health, trauma, stress, family responsibilities, work pressure, and life transitions. My military experience has also shaped my ability to listen carefully, remain calm under pressure, and support people through difficult moments with respect, structure, and compassion.
I bring a practical, culturally sensitive, and evidence-based approach to care. I especially value working with adults, veterans, service members, professionals, and underserved communities who are seeking support for anxiety, depression, PTSD, stress, trauma, and emotional burnout.
