How do you determine therapy goals with clients? What does that process look like?
I believe in discussing , planning and setting goals in joint venture with the client; client-centered approach; a careful review of client's hope, dream and the inner desire for change. This process requires self examination by the client, monitored by the therapist in determining that one critical factor that is interfering most with the client's growth and to brining out positive changes.
In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?
I came to this USA in a very young age, my life in Iran as a child, watching various forms of suffering, poverty and unfairness have impacted me and my life journey in many ways. As an American, I live with four distinct stereotypes that have helped me to become a stronger and well achieved individual.
How has your particular field of specialization evolved in recent years and how has that impacted your work?
I believe in the wounded-healer approach. It is the wounded who knows so precisely about the suffering and pain of others.
