Under Clinical Supervision
Ms. Kelly Mulvey, Resident, N/A is practicing under the supervision of Huantian Xiou (New York, LMHC, 013733) at The Soho Center for Mental Health Counseling.
Please, note: A clinician listed as being “clinically supervised” is completing clinical hours toward their licensure. They have one or more fully licensed clinical supervisors that often have special training to become supervisors. They consult with their supervisor(s) on all of their cases, which means that, when working with them, you are getting the time and expertise of multiple therapists in your treatment.
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
I find that therapy is not just about seeking help but having a space to be heard. I aim to cultivate a safe space where an individual can show up and be the most authentic version of themselves. My therapeutic approach is person centered where I believe that the client has the ability to lead the life they want with self esteem building and self-paced therapy. I am also skilled in CBT and mindfulness techniques.
What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
I grew up with an alcoholic parent with mental health issues and saw the struggles that an individual goes through when not addressing their issues. Therapy has always been an important part in my life as I started seeing a counselor at a young age. I found myself being drawn into the profession once COVID hit and society, as we knew, changed significantly. At that time, everyone's mental health was impacted as was mine, and it motivated me to return to school to pursue a path in counseling.
