Get To Know Me
In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
I like to have fun, but I also know when to be serious. I am open, genuine, and have a great unconditional positive regard for all my clients. They can expect that I will never be fake with them and I will never act like the expert of their lives. They are the experts! My clients can expect a collaborative experience in therapy with their comfort being a top priority.
How do you determine therapy goals with clients? What does that process look like?
Towards the end of our initial session, I will ask my client what goals he/she has in mind for their therapy. It is important to me to make sure that the therapy process is guided by my client, as I am just the support to reach goals, not the author of them. Once goals are expressed, my client and I work together to create a treatment plan to direct the process.
What do you think is the biggest barrier today for people seeking care?
I think the biggest barrier is misunderstanding about the therapy process. Many people think that they will be told what they should be doing and that their individual choices will not be respected.
