I like to have fun, but I also know when to be serious. I am open, genuine, and have a great unconditional positive regard for all my clients. They can expect that I will never be fake with them and I will never act like the expert of their lives. They are the experts! My clients can expect a collaborative experience in therapy with their comfort being a top priority.
Towards the end of our initial session, I will ask my client what goals he/she has in mind for their therapy. It is important to me to make sure that the therapy process is guided by my client, as I am just the support to reach goals, not the author of them. Once goals are expressed, my client and I work together to create a treatment plan to direct the process.
I think the biggest barrier is misunderstanding about the therapy process. Many people think that they will be told what they should be doing and that their individual choices will not be respected.

Panic attacks & panic disorder
Panic attacks are acute conditions in which one experiences an intense bout of anxiety out of seemingly nowhere. This oftentimes stems from a perceived rather than actual threat. Symptoms may include heart palpitations, sweating, trembling, and shortness of breath. Panic disorder involves regular frequency of panic attacks (two or more) with a fear of experiencing more in the future.
Self-harm entails any action undertaken to intentionally bring harm upon oneself. It oftentimes serves as a maladaptive coping mechanism for emotional distress. Common actions taken include cutting, burning, picking, scratching, intentionally overdosing on substances, and other reckless behavior.
Depression often causes people to feel sad, empty, or hopeless, and can cause a lack of interest in life. It can also affect a person's thinking patterns and physical health.

Adolescent mental health
Adolescent mental health focuses on adolescent-specific experiences including physical and cognitive development, social and environmental factors, sex, sexual identification and orientation, emotional processing, and substance use. Given the influence that parents/guardians have on adolescents, home life is a particularly important consideration.
