What was your path to becoming a therapist? What inspired you to choose this profession?
I always possessed the ability to listen and empathize with others, my friends and collegues would come to me for suggestions on how to cope with difficult situations in their life. I encouraged them to find a solution by offering alternate perspectives that provided self reflection and insight, affording the individual with the opportunity to make informed and appropiate decsions on their own. Working with youth for many years provided me with the opportunity to see how being heard and validated can make a huge impact on an individuals self worth and self esteem, providing them with a safe space to verbalize thoughts and feelings that they are uncomfortable sharing with peers or family members. I began using my horses in treatment after seeing the benefits that it had on youth and families, the results were amazing. I quickly learned that using horses as one of the treatment modalities is exptremely powerful and effective, particularly when working with individuals who have past trauma, trust and attachment issues, and youth who are resistant to traditional talk therapy and couples who are unable to see how thier behaviors impact one another. I found my niche late in life, but once I entered the therapeutic environment, I knew that was where I needed to be
In what ways have your personal experiences influenced your work with your clients?
I have experienced many losses in my life and know how painful it can be to lose a loved one or a pet. These experiences have increased my ability to be empathetic and caring, while hearing and validating each individuals level of pain and hurt. We all grieve in our unique way and some grieve longer than others, I strive hard to normalize those occasions and allow the individual the time and space to cope with their loss when they are ready. I have 6 children so am familiar with the stress and anxiety that raising children can sometimes create. Balancing a healthy relationship with my partner and children while working and studying has been a challenge but one I overcame. As a result, I understnd how daily life stressors can impact an individual, couple and family.
What would be important for someone to know about working with you?
People have told me I am very easy to talk to, I am approachable, empathetic, warm and compassionate. I try very hard to make those I serve comfortable and safe as we tackle difficult topics that have arisen in life.

Work History
Many years ago, I started working as a behavioral health specialist with at risk youth. It was a challenging but rewarding position filled with a lot of happiness and some sadness. Lessons I learned during that process has helped me to become the therapist I am today, which in turn, provides me with the skills and knowledge to help you. I realize that todays environment brings a unique set of challenges for some of us, anxiety, stress and depression is often created by external factors out of our control, however, change can occur with the right interventions in place. I use a variety of treatment interventions to include Trauma Informed Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Ttherapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Equine Psychotherapy. Results have been amazing for the majority of those I work with. While I can't promise that my techniques will work for everyone, I can promise that I will do everything possible to facilitate change no matter how small. II strive hard to provide you with the care you deserve. Specializing in Equine Psychotherapy, Trauma, Sexual Abuse, Grief and Loss, Anxiety and Depression for Individuals, Couples, and Families. I also offer traditional talk therapy. I offer Telehelath or in person sessions and will come to your home if needed. I take cash payments, credit cards and some insurances, fees range between $120-$200 per 55 minute sessions. I have flexible times on my schedule and try hard to accommodate a time and day that works best for you.
