Get To Know Me
What are some the unique issues faced by clients in your particular field of specialization, in terms of mental health education, care, and/or treatment?
My speciality is diabetes psychology and management of chronic and invisible illnesses such as autoimmune disorders and major mood disorders. Many clients often face burnout and distress, which is a reality of living with a chronic illness. When the illness or disability is invisible and people "do not look sick" it adds a layer of complexity to everyday tasks and relationships. Addressing the emotional side of living with a chronic illness can help people better manage their medical/mental health conditions and improve their quality of life.
What is your style/approach to therapy?
My style is collaborative, transparent, non-judgmental, supportive, and interactive. We develop treatment goals together and evaluate your progress on ongoing basis. When you begin therapy with me, we make a mutual commitment to show up, communicate openly, and roll up our sleeves to do the work together. My goal is to help you live your best life.
In what ways does your personality influence your approach to therapy?
What you see is what you get, both in my personal life and as a therapist. I am pragmatic, goal-oriented, and lean heavily on common sense and sense of humor. I value empowerment and resilience and look for strengths in each person and learning opportunities in each situation.
